Privacy Policy
Waitlist & pre-launch notifications
Last updated: 12 September, 2026
1. Scope of this policy
This policy explains how ChairHop ("we," "us," "our") collects and uses information when you visit chair-hop.com and join our pre-launch waitlist. It does not cover the ChairHop app itself — a separate, more comprehensive privacy policy covering account information, location data, booking details, and payment information will be published before the app launches.
2. Who we are
ChairHop is a beauty services marketplace based in Quebec, Canada, connecting clients with independent hair, nail, and beauty professionals.
3. Information we collect
When you visit this page or join the waitlist, we collect:
- Email address — submitted voluntarily when you join the client or professional waitlist.
- General location (country-level) — determined from your IP address, used only to show you launch messaging relevant to where you are. We don't store your IP address ourselves; it's used momentarily for this lookup, by a third-party service (see Section 9).
- Browsing activity on this site — anonymous, unless and until you submit your email (see Section 5).
We do not currently collect your name, phone number, or any other information through this page.
4. How we use your information
We use your email address to send you updates about ChairHop as we build toward launch — including progress updates, news, and letting you know when ChairHop launches or becomes available in your area.
Your general location is used only to display appropriately localized messaging on this page — nothing else.
If you submit your email, your browsing activity on this site (previously anonymous) becomes linked to your subscriber profile, giving us a fuller picture of your interest in ChairHop.
5. Cookies & tracking technologies
This page uses onsite tracking technology (provided by Klaviyo, our email marketing platform — see Section 9) to understand how visitors use the site. This tracking is anonymous unless and until you submit your email through one of our forms, at which point your browsing activity becomes associated with your subscriber profile.
6. Legal basis for processing
By submitting your email address, you consent to us using it for the purposes described above. Our waitlist uses a confirmation step (sometimes called "double opt-in") — after submitting, you'll receive a confirmation message, and you're only added to the list once you confirm. You can withdraw consent at any time — see Section 10.
7. How we store and protect your information
We don't store your email address in our own database. When you submit the waitlist form, it's transmitted securely (TLS/HTTPS) directly to Klaviyo, our email marketing platform, which stores and manages it on our behalf under its own security practices.
8. Where your information is processed
Klaviyo, Inc. is based in the United States and processes and stores your information there. As a result, your information may be stored and processed outside Quebec and Canada.
9. Sharing your information
We don't sell your information. We share it with:
- Klaviyo — stores your email, manages your subscription status, and sends you the notification email(s) described above. See Klaviyo's Privacy Notice and Data Processing Agreement for how they handle information on our behalf.
- ipapi.co — determines your general location (country) from your IP address, solely to show appropriately localized messaging on this page. See ipapi.co's Privacy Policy.
Neither is authorized to use your information for their own independent marketing purposes.
10. Your rights
You can:
- Unsubscribe at any time — every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, or you can email us directly.
- Request access to the information we hold about you.
- Request correction or deletion of your information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [privacy@chair-hop.com].
If you're located in Quebec and believe your rights under Quebec's Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector (Law 25) haven't been respected, you also have the right to file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
11. Children's privacy
This page isn't directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region).
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as ChairHop moves toward launch, especially once we introduce a full app privacy policy covering account, location, and payment data. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
